![]() Took it in and the Buick dealer had to replace the intake manifold (plastic!) along with some gaskets and Dex-cool. Initially I heard a noise that sounded like water 'sloshing around' inside the car dash, but only the first thing in the mornings. I have now had multiple repairs to the cooling system. I have a 1999 Buick Regal which I purchased new in May, 1999. This has pushed me even further into a financial hardship. But, having seven children, I can't afford this type of repair. Do I have a choice? I can't get a used car that is in this good of shape for $1,000. He said everything is in excellent shape except for this. The mechanic checked out the entire car to see if it was worth getting the gasket done. If GM knows about this, then why didn't they stop this Dex-Cool Antifreeze a long time ago? My car has 187,000 miles on it. Now it's being repaired because of the gasket. ![]() When I had the water pump repaired last week, the guy showed me all the sludge in the radiator and said I needed to get the radiator flushed. The air conditioner never worked right since we bought this car two years ago. Each complaint seems to be describing my car, exactly. I've been reading about the Dex-Cool problem and all the repairs related to it on different websites. My vehicle is being worked on as I am writing this. I have the same problem with my 1997 Monte Carlo as many others do. I am on a fixed income and don't have the money to keep flushing my radiator every year and replacing what this crap has ruined. This should have been a recall factor many years ago before it came to this point. I feel that gM has done Me a disservice by putting something into my car and requiring it which they have known for years not that it was ruining cars. From what I have been hearing, this DEX-COOL antifreeze that GM put in my car is the problem, Valvolone kept adding the same stuff all the time I had taken the car in to them and I was told that it was required. I can hear what sounds like water gurgling behind the dash which I had never heard before. Now the heater has gone out, in the middle of winter and I will be taking it in to have it fixed. The low coolent light stays on all the time now, and it does not overheat because I keep an eye on it. my my low coolant light started coming on, and I took it in for them to check again, and it wasn't hot, he said that the sencor must be gunked up. He said it might need flushed again because the gunk will keep coming to the top. I called around and got a price for a flush from Zip Lube and after taking it in to have it done he told me, he has seen this a lot with GM products and he changed it after flushing. I was told they could flush it for me for $89.95. ![]() ![]() I called valvoline and told them I had just had my car in and I had found this gunk in my radiator and I told them since I advised them about the heating priblem they would have had to open the radiatro cap and if they did they would have seen that gunk. my boyfriend took the cap off the radiator and it was full of rusty looking sludge and foam. After changing oil and all it still was not heating right. I took it in and told them my heater was only heating when I would turn a corner. I had this car serviced by Valvoline, the oil and everything was maintained by Valvoline for years. YOU CAN CODE SCAN CAR TO SEE IF YOU HAVE FAULTY PCM, FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR FAULTY COOLANT FAN RELAY.IF COOLANT FAN AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OKAY,YOU HAVE CORRECT COOLANT LEVEL IN COOLANT SYSTEM, THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP BEEN REPLACED, YOU COULD HAVE BLOWN HEAD GASKET CHECK ENGINE OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE HEAD GASKET BLOWED ALSO WHEN HEAD GASKET BLOWED YOU CAN DRIVE CAR SHORT DISTANCE START OVERHEATING AND YOU LOOSE ENGINE POWER SUSPECT BLOWED HEAD GASKET.I purchased my 1999 Buick Century new in 1999. OVERHEATING CAN BE CAUSE BY MANY THINGS LIKE FAULTY THERMOSTAT AND FAULTY RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP,TOO MUCH WATER IN COOLANT SYSTEM NEED 50 / 50 WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.LOOK FOR WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE LEAK, IF COOLANT LEAKING OUT WEEP HOLE WATER PUMP BAD NEED REPLACING.CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT LEVEL, YOUR RADIATOR OVERFLOW JUG SHOULD HAVE COOLANT AT THE FULL COLD MARK IF NOT KEEP ADDING COOLANT INTO COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT STOP DROPPING AND FULL COLD MARK, IF OVERFLOW COOLANT JUG WAS EMPTY RADIATOR IS LOW ON COOLANT.WHICH CAUSE AIR IN COOLANT SYSTEM KEEPING THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FROM BEING SUBMERGE IN HOT COOLANT WHICH TURN ON THE COOLANT FANS.WHEN ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GET CERTAIN SET TEMPERATURE LIKE 190 DEGREES THE PCM AND COOLANT SENSOR WILL TURN ON COOLANT FANS, IF VECHICLE OVERHEATING COOLANT FANS NOT WORKING EITHER YOU HAVE FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CHECK COOLANT FANS FUSE AND RELAYS.
